Yolanda Johnson-Moton is the director for external relations at Eli Lilly and Company where she drives the strategy and implementation of a portfolio to enhance Lilly’s partnerships with US external stakeholders. Yolanda is known for her innovative thinking and ability to implement on her vision, earning her the 2016 ELITE award for transformational leadership. She is very passionate about education, and recently launched an eLearning course titled “Making Medicines: The Process of Drug Development”. Prior to launching the course, she developed and launched two Medical Student Partnership Programs between Lilly USA and the academic medical community. In 2013, she was named a finalist for the PM360 Trailblazer Marketer of the Year Award. Yolanda joined Lilly in 2008 and has held positions in Managed Healthcare Services and Health Education where she launched education and engagement platforms including an award winning, NCQA-certified patient education program called Health Education Answers, and award winning website Lilly for Better Health™ to broaden patient access to health education tools and resources. Additionally, she led the effort to enter Lilly USA into the social media space with the creation of the Lilly Health Channel on YouTube, which was honored the Gold Web Health Award. She has produced several videos highlighting health education and the pharmaceutical industry including the Telly Award winning “Living with Type 2 Diabetes: A Teens Journey”, and the recently launched “Uniting Caring and Discovery” video.
Prior to joining Lilly, Yolanda was director of marketing and community relations at a managed care organization and she has held various positions with other pharmaceutical companies. Her educational pursuits have earned her a Bachelors of Science degree from Indiana University, Kelley School of Business, in marketing and business analysis, and she obtained her MBA with a healthcare concentration from Indiana Wesleyan University.
She enjoys public speaking and currently represents Lilly on the following: American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) Corporate Roundtable, American Medical Association (AMA) Corporate Roundtable, and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Corporate Advisory Board, and is a former board member of the Wheeler Dowe Boys/Girls Club of Indianapolis.
